Basia Burrough - self portrait

I have been concentrating on portraiture since 2000 when I relinquished professional teaching. Painting is where my passion lies and while I love to share this with others, giving my ideas full expression requires complete attention.

I prefer to work directly from life, as it is from life I get my inspiration; this vitality gives substance to my painting. Be it portraiture or still life, my purpose is to capture this vigour and energy: this is what fires my passion to paint.

I divide my time between my paintings of Greenwich and commissions for portraits.
